Jack Miller is a partner at Frank Freed Subit & Thomas and represents employees and labor unions in a wide range of labor and employment matters. His practice focuses on workplace discrimination, wage-and-hour class actions, disability discrimination and accommodations, retaliation, wrongful termination, and leave law violations. He is dedicated to protecting workers' rights and helping clients navigate complex employment disputes with skill, diligence, and strategic advocacy.
Jack approaches his practice through what he describes as a human-centric lens. He takes seriously his dual role as both counselor and advocate, recognizing that legal disputes often have significant personal, professional, and financial consequences for his clients. Jack works closely with each client to identify the outcome that best aligns with their individual circumstances, goals, and priorities, and then zealously advocates to achieve that result. By focusing first on the person behind the case, he helps clients make informed decisions and pursue solutions that serve their broader life objectives.
Before joining Frank Freed Subit & Thomas, Jack practiced at a law firm that represented employers in labor and employment matters. That experience provides him with valuable insight into how management-side employment attorneys evaluate claims, develop litigation strategies, and assess risk. Drawing on this perspective, Jack can anticipate opposing counsel's arguments and strategic considerations while advocating effectively on behalf of employees and unions.
Jack earned his law degree from the University of Washington School of Law, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class. In recognition of his academic achievements, he was inducted into the Order of the Coif and received the Mary Ellen Krug Award for Excellence in Labor & Employment Law. While in law school, Jack was a member of the Washington Law Review and authored a student comment analyzing amendments to Washington's Law Against Discrimination that protect employees pursuing discrimination claims from being required to disclose certain medical and mental health treatment records. He also interned with the Labor and Employment Division of the Seattle City Attorney's Office, where he gained experience advising public-sector employers on workplace legal issues.
Jack's work on behalf of employees has earned recognition from the legal community. He was selected as a Super Lawyers Rising Star for 2025 and 2026, an honor awarded to attorneys who have demonstrated a high degree of professional achievement and peer recognition. Jack is also a member of the Washington Employment Lawyers Association and regularly participates in planning the Pacific Coast Labor and Employment Law Conference.
