On June 17, the case of Debi Humann, the former Human Resources Director for the City of Edmonds, came to a close when she recovered more than $1 million to cover attorney costs. She had initially been awarded a total of $1,035,351 in November 2014.
In her case, she claimed that she had suffered from the following:
- Wrongful termination;
- Retaliation;
- Defamation; and
- Denial of her First Amendment rights.
Humann, who had worked for the city for more than 12 years before being terminated, was represented by Attorneys Beth Barrett Bloom and Jillian M. Cutler of Frank, Freed, Subit & Thomas LLP. She was ultimately able to recover more than $2 million in compensation.
